Marta Moreno Vega of the African Diaspora Institute discusses the Caribbean component of African Diaspora which plays a large role in “My Father’s Land” a documentary featured in of AfroPop season 9.

“My Father’s Land” was directed by K. Tyler Johnson. Papa Jah, a humble Haitian gardener, has lived in the Bahamas for 40 years. As his marginalized community faces a strict new deportation policy and growing xenophobia in the Bahamas, he returns to Haiti, to reunite with his 103 years old father and the land he left behind.
